Kenya is set hold first ever Safety Awards that seeks to promote individuals and companies championing for health and safety at workplace.
The awards slated for August 31, will feature two counties Nairobi and Mombasa with the window open for participants from other counties to hand in submissions by August 12.
According to James Kinuthia the director of Safe Pro Limited, the awards will be looking at how an individual or an organisation is working towards the improvement and enhancement of employees’ health and safety.
“These will be awards for people who appreciate and ensure that workers are safe from any harm in the course of doing their daily businesses,” said Kinuthia.
It will be the first time awards on safety are being held in Africa.
Noreen Kigochi , communications manager at Ability Resource said the initiative is aimed at enabling organisations and individuals share best practices, manage human resource and raise awareness on the importance of safety at work place.
The submissions will run from 1-12 August with auditors expected to visit the companies between 15 to 18th.
The gala event will be on August 31 in Nairobi where winners will walk away with trophies and certificates.
