Jumia slashes delivery fee by 60 percent, aims to boost FMCG purchase

E-commerce platform Jumia has slashed its delivery fee withing Nairobi by 60 per cent.

This means that customers will now pay only Sh100 for delivery in the said region down from Sh250.

Jumia said the move is aimed at making it more cost effective for the customers to buy Frequently Manufactured Consumer Goods from the platform and enhance customer experience while shopping online.

“We hope by reducing the delivery fee to Sh100, our customers can now buy their everyday essentials and other small items without extra strain on their budget whilst saving more with Jumia,” Jumia MD Sam Chappatte said.

This means that customers will now pay only Sh100 for delivery in the said region down from Sh250.

The platforms Q1 results shows that FMCG’S attracted the highest rate of repeat customers at 85 per cent as more people continue to embrace online shopping for their day-to-day home supplies.

The Fashion category for both men and women followed closely at 78 per cent . The Baby and Kids category showed the highest improvement on repeat customers with Diapers as the most bought item on the platform.
