Safaricom has announced that its Chief Executive Bob Collymore, has taken a medical leave to receive specialized treatment for unknown number of days.
In a statement to newsrooms, the current Chief Financial Officer Sateesh Kamath, who is also Collymore’s alternate on the Board, will take up the CEOs role.
He will be supported by Joseph Ogutu who is the Director – Strategy and Innovation, Safaricom and will be responsible for Safaricom’s day-to-day operations.
“On behalf of the board, management and the entire Safaricom community, I wish Bob quick recovery and look forward to him resuming his duties as soon as doctors allow him to do so,” said the statement by Nicholas Ng’ang’a, Chairman, Safaricom Plc.
Collymores leave comes ahead of the firms H1 financial results set to be released before end of this month.
