The National Oil Corporation is currently reviewing the preliminary report on the gas emission in Kipeto, Kajiado County.
Following reports of the gas emission on 28th September 2017, National Oil dispatched a team of Geoscientists who together with SGS, a global inspection, verification and testing company, collected and analysed samples of the gas.
The report follows the assurance by the Principal Secretary State Department of Petroleum Andrew Kamau, that the Ministry will put all efforts to ensure the analysis of the gas is conclusively done, and information shared with the Kajiado County Government.
“National Oil is also arranging for shipment of some more samples to other internationally accredited geochemical laboratories it collaborates with, for purposes of undertaking isotope analysis to determine the source of the gas,”said National Oil Corporation Chief Executive, MaryJane Mwangi.
National Oil’s Upstream activities involve participation in oil and gas exploration in the country.
National Oil is also tasked with helping to market Kenya’s exploration acreage, management of the national hydrocarbon data, management of the National Geochemical and Petrophysical Laboratory among other attendant responsibilities.
