Nokia is back!
An evening ago, HMD Global, the new home of Nokia phones, announced the major come back of Nokia phones, comprising of Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6.
In addition to the three smartphones, the Finnish firm also announced the return of the iconic Nokia 3310 !
The phones are available through mobile phone service provider, Safaricom, and through selected retailers.
“Combined with a thoughtful design philosophy that focuses on improving the smartphone experience at every level, each technical component of a Nokia phone has been carefully considered and integrated into the phone design to have the biggest benefit on consumers’ daily lives. Drawing on the hallmarks of the Nokia phone heritage of quality, simplicity and reliability, Nokia phones are designed for a new generation of fans.” Senior Business Manager East Africa, HMD Global Gopher Ogembo said.
In an exclusive interview with BIZNEWS, Ogembo said they aim to unseat top players in the industry, to become the third player in Kenya’s smartphone market.
” We intend to leverage on millennials who are the drivers of technology and Nokia’s brand awareness which currently stands at 99 per cent” Ogembo said.
The brand has invested $500 million ( sh 51.98 billion) across its 60 markets globally in order to remain competitive as it dives into the Smartphone market.
The phones will retail at a cost of between Sh5300 and Sh25000
