Completion of Standard Gauge Railway within the stipulated timelines will open up two-thirds of the country’s investment space to boost job creation and address high unemployment rates, Vision 2030 Director General,Julius Muia has said.
Speaking to the press on the sidelines of a two-day Knowledge Sharing Workshop in Naivasha that is ending this Friday, Muia said that the blueprints secretariat now has more confidence of undertaking even bigger projects like The Lamu Port Southern Sudan-Ethiopia Transport Corridor project which is 10 times bigger in terms of investment value than the SGR.
Kenya International Convention Center chief executive Nana Gecaga said mega Vision 2030 projects like the Standard Gauge Railway is opening up business opportunities to key sectors of the economy and should safe guarded for posterity.
“The modern railway has a capacity to bridge a 60 percent gap in the country’s events management business and contribute significantly to the tourism sector” she said.
As we head towards elections, Vision 2030 projects drafters and implementers present in the event assured the business community and Kenyans that election cycles and political activities will not affect implementation the national blueprint.
