MPESA users will now be able to manage and pay bills via-MPESA all in a single transaction through a new service known as Bill Manager, launched today by Safaricom.
This comes months after the migration of the MPESA serves back home last year.
In addition to the above, the service also allows users to set automatic reminders and save PayBill numbers in order to streamline the payment process.
“Over Sh20 billion is made in payments on the Lipa Na M-PESA service on a monthly basis. This new service will empower our customers to take control of their bill payments made using the service and is one more benefit that we are able to roll out thanks to the migration of the M-PESA servers back home last year,” said Bob Collymore, CEO, Safaricom.
Over the last year, Safaricom has rolled out a number of services that enrich the experience on the M-PESA platform including Hakikisha, a service that allows subscribers to check the intended recipient of any funds ahead of making a transaction.
Other recent improvements to M-PESA include a new, easy-to-use menu that consolidates M-Shwari and KCB M-PESA, free M-PESA statements, USSD PayBill services, Real Time Settlements for merchants, and API functionality that enables developers to integrate M-PESA into their applications and websites.
“M-PESA’s continued growth has been enabled by our continuous focus and investment that aim to continuously re-engineer the experience of our customers on the platform,” said Mr. Collymore.
